AC Power Monitor System for the RTCASS

Elliott Tech designed, tested, and documented the embedded software for monitoring the AC power for the RTCASS. 

The AC Power Monitor System (ACPMS) provides the interface for voltage and current measurements of three phases of 50/60 Hz as well as three phase 400 Hz.  Zero-crossing detection facilitates frequency and phase rotation measurements.  On board data storage is easily interfaced to a PC via Ethernet and / or serial communications.  Additionally, discrete outputs provide interfaces for audible alarms or trip breakers.

Canadair CRJ-700 Regional Jet

ETI designed, tested, and documented the embedded software for the Fire Detection and Extinguishing System (FIDEEX). 

The FIDEEX is designed to detect and report fire events in each of the two engines and the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). The FIDEEX detects and reports smoke events in the cargo bays.  In addition, the system monitors and, through pilot interaction, controls extinguishing bottles for fire suppression in the engines, the APU, and the cargo bays.

The documentation includes Software design and test plans, Requirements Spec, Design Doc, detailed Test Description, detailed Test Report, and Version Description Doc.

 F-22 Advance Fighter

ETI assisted in the hardware design of the fire detection and protection system on this aircraft. This design included FPGA's as well as source control schematics and drawings. 

 

F-18 SuperHornet

ETI performed the Software Quality Assurance (SQA) function for the Navy’s F18E/F SuperHornet Dry Bay Fire Detection and Alarm Subsystem (DBFDAS).  The DBFDAS detects, alarms, and extinguishes fires (enemy ground fire) in the bottom of the F18 fuselage.  Detection, location, and extinguishing take place before the enemy ground fire can cause major damage to the plane.  

SQA participated in all software design reviews, preliminary testing,  and formal verification testing.  SQA audited and signed-off all software documentation including: Software design and test plans, Requirements Spec, Design Doc, detailed Test Description, detailed Test Report, and Version Description Doc.

C-17 Cargo Plane

This project involved the design of an overheat detection system for the military’s C-17 Cargo Aircraft.  This system included the hardware design of the detector circuits for capacitance sensing elements.  The circuitry allows for “spot” detection as well as compartmental detection.  The system monitors for overheats, provides alarms, performs continuous self-test/fault analysis, and communicates, over the 1553 bus, with the aircraft computer system. 

Optical Smoke Detector

This product was designed by ETI to provide smoke detection in aircraft cargo areas.  This project used pulsing optical emitter through a small chamber and an optical detector monitoring the air passing through the chamber.
